Overview


The Chair of the Department serves in a dual leadership role for the academic health center as Director of Service at Westchester Medical Center with a full-time faculty appointment in good standing with the SOM and professional employment with Westchester Medical Center, Advanced Physician Services, P.C. per institutional policies and procedures. In the role of Chair of the Department, the Chair reports directly to the Dean of New York Medical College (NYMC) School of Medicine (SOM).


Responsibilities


The overall responsibility of the Chair is to lead the Department to a position of academic and professional eminence, while furthering the goals and missions of the SOM including and not limited to the following:

+ Establish a vision for the department and effectively communicating how it contributes to the success of individual faculty members, the SOM, the institution, and professional discipline.
