You will help your team deliver public health and specialized microbiology for Alberta through leadership and excellence in surveillance, research, specialized laboratory testing and outbreak and emerging infectious diseases response. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist I you will perform a variety of laboratory functions which includes recognizing bacterial pathogens and following established protocols for identification, operating and maintaining technical equipment while adhering to protocols and safety guidelines; entering and validating results into Laboratory Information System, recognizing testing/reporting discrepancies and taking appropriate action, performing quality control procedures essential for maintaining effective quality systems management of the area, participating in procedure reviews and training staff. You may have the opportunity to train in Virology.
