Fellowship period: three years, which can be extended for up to four years with teaching and research duties.

Start date no later than October 1 2026. A person may hold at most one PhD Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo.

Work location: Department of Informatics, Blindern, Oslo.

Research Project

The project will study the convergence of high‑performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI), exploring how HPC can enhance AI/ML workloads and vice versa.

The PhD candidate will conduct research on the following themes:

• New algorithms for parallel/distributed AI/ML
• Hardware‑aware and resource‑efficient partitioning for parallel/distributed AI/ML
• Optimization of process‑to‑process communication in parallel/distributed AI/ML
