The Norwegian Red Cross is seeking a legal advisor/senior legal advisor to support the update process of the San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea.
Over the past three decades, the 1994 San Remo Manual has been recognized as a modern reflection of the principles and rules of international law applicable to armed conflicts at sea. The Norwegian Red Cross is taking an active role in the update process and is represented on the Steering Committee bearing the overall responsibilty for the project. The process was initiated in 2019 by the Council of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law at San Remo (IIHL), to ensure that the Manual continues to be relevant, reflecting the current state of law and the evolution of naval operations in contemporary conflicts.
