• WaterSMART Solutions was founded in Calgary, Alberta in 2006 by Dr. P. Kim Sturgess (member of the Order of Canada) and was acquired by Hazen in late 2024. Hazen was founded in 1951 by the son of Allen Hazen (developer of the Hazen-Williams equation). WaterSMART currently has 25+ employees in our Calgary office, while Hazen as a whole has over 2,000 employees in 80+ offices throughout the United States, Canada, the UK and Latin America.
