Temporary Legal Counsel (13 months)

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this position is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel for the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in relation to all aspects of criminal, civil and corporate law.

What you will do

The successful candidate will participate in the management and team building of a highly skilled and professional in‑house legal practice capable of servicing the needs of the Toronto Police Service.

Duties and responsibilities include: the provision of legal advice and counsel in matters of criminal law, policing law, privacy law, administrative law and civil procedure; advocate for the interests of the Toronto Police Service before all levels of court and various administrative tribunals, including conducting professional regulation prosecutions and appeals under the Police Services Act and the Community Safety Policing Act.
