Position Title: Water Plant Operator I or II Department: Utilities (Water Treatment) Reports to: Water Superintendent Category: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Operator I - 14 ($17.67 - $25.83), Operator II - 16 ($19.49 - $28.48) Position Summary Performs skilled work in the operation of water purification treatment and pumping plant. Makes repairs and adjustments to equipment as required. Tasks Works on a shift plus standby rotation. Must be able to report to the plant within 30 minutes of being called. Inspect, operate, and perform maintenance on motors, pumps, meters, chemical feeders, and related equipment. Observes pressure and flow of water in the distribution system from telemetering data; maintains steady pressure. Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or dispose of wash water, and generate power.
